Jeanie Carter graduated from Millikin University with a Bachelor of Music in vocal and piano performance. Prior to entering the conservatory, she trained for ten years through the preparatory department at Millikin. Post-graduate vocal studies include sessions with Clare Kittner, Tim Carson, Lisa Popeil, and Dr. Ronald Combs; jazz piano with George McRae. She has audited master classes with established artists like Joan Dornemann, Maestro Guilio Favorio, Maestro Philip Morehead, James Marvel, Ann Baltz, and Solange Sior; related classes with authorities Mark Stoddard, Dr. Robert Bastian, and Mary Jean Allen. Jeanie taught private and class voice for two years in the Willow Creek Arts Center and has been a guest clinician for Camp Jam/Chicago. She judges vocal, piano, and theatre competitions regularly. As a licensed Kindermusik® educator, Jeanie has taught music to newborns, toddlers, and young children. Prior to opening Bel Canto Studios, she was a project manager and consultant with Hewitt Associates for twelve years. Her work in recruiting, business development, information management, and client communications serves her well to this day. Jeanie's performance credits include operatic roles, oratorio and church music, solo concerts, musical theatre, leading contemporary worship, and jazz/cabaret vocals. She was the soprano soloist at First Presbyterian Church in Libertyville for twenty years and part of the vocal ministry at Willow Creek Community Church from 2001 to 2006. In 2010, she launched Sapphire Jazz, a performing duo that has been well-received in the Chicago area. Auditions for Barrington Children’s Choir
